Mr. Sam Koskela's Arleta High School Home Page
Howdy! My name is Sam Koskela. I am an English teacher in Arleta Senior High's Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) SLC. The 2009-2010 school year at Arleta will mark my seventh year as classroom teacher. With a prior stint as Accelerated Reader Coordinator at a previous school site I have been with Los Angeles Unified for over a decade!
Some of the subjects I have taught are 9th Grade English, 9th and 10th Grade Developing Readers and Writers (DRWC), 10th Grade English, 11th Grade American Literature and Contemporary Composition, Drawing, and Film Production. This year at Arleta I will be teaching 10th and 11th Grade English as well as a 9th Grade Advisory course where 9th Graders new to the high school environment will begin working on the portfolios they will maintain and build over their high school educational career.
When I am not in the classroom I tend to like books, movies, and music of all kinds. I also have an interest in old and antique type things. I like to paint, draw, and make photographs, and on occasion I might be caught squeezing an accordion.
If you are a student of mine (or a parent of a student of mine, for that matter), I will try to keep the class listings below up to date with homework, notes, projects, and general class information so that we can all keep up together with the rapid pace of the school year.
Thanks for visiting my home page!
